Zach Edey is out at least four weeks with an ankle injury

Memphis The Grizzlies have dealt with injuries once again this season, and they recently got more bad news with one of their young, productive players.
“Zach Edey he was diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left wrist. He is expected to make a full recovery after a period of unloading and rehabilitation. Edei will be re-evaluated in about four weeks and further updates
will be provided as needed,” the Grizzlies wrote.
With Edei now sidelined for an extended period of time, the Grizzlies’ frontcourt will need to step up in his absence.
Edei revealed a few weeks ago that he had an ankle injury in his rookie season last year, and was happy to get into a groove to start his sophomore season.
“Last season I felt like I was never 100% healthy,” Eddie said. “I played through the pain, trying to keep the team competitive. This year I feel like I’m getting off the floor better and keeping the ball high in traffic, which was a major focus for me in the offseason.”
Unfortunately, it looks like Edei will have to go through the process of recovering from his injury, and the hope is that when he returns, he will be back to being dominant. This season Edey is averaging 13.6 points and 11.1 rebounds in 11 games.
The Grizzlies are still waiting for Ja Morant to return to the floor, and it looks like he could be close. He has been dealing with a right calf strain suffered against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Nov. 15, but has recently been a full participant in practice.
It probably doesn’t feel good for the Grizzlies to bring back their star and lose one of their key players in the same week, but that’s how they’ve been the last few years when it comes to injuries.
