Zach Love has 1 question for the owner after firing Nick Harrison
On Tuesday, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported that thThe Dallas Mavericks were planning to fire the general manager Nico Harrisona move that fans have cherished ever since he traded superstar Luka Dončić last year in arguably the worst move in NBA history. The Mavericks have come out of the gate this year, currently 3-8 after Monday night’s loss to the Milwaukee Bucks despite getting lucky with the overall pick in the Cooper Flag Draft.
Recently, NBA insider Zach Lowe of The Ringer took to X, formerly Twitter, with a question for Mavericks team owner Patrick Dumont.
“Will Patrick Dumont share responsibility for the Luke trade and try (again) to explain his role in giving the green light and *why* he gave the green light?” Lou wondered.
Indeed, many fans hold Dumont as responsible as Harrison for the disastrous Doncic trade. In fact, some have accused Dumont of being the architect of the decision, using Harrison as a mere scapegoat in an attempt to flood the franchise and eventually move them to Las Vegas.
Whatever the truth, Mavericks fans are certainly celebrating today.
Big move for the Mavericks

The thought of Nico Harrison being fired became seemingly inevitable as soon as Charania hit send on the X post announcing the Doncic trade in early February, and that clock has been sped up by various developments since then, including Kyrie Irving’s torn ACL injury, more Anthony Davis injury concerns, and Doncic’s hot start to the year.
While there’s still plenty of time left in the season, it’s hard to imagine the Mavericks fixing their league-worst offense this year until both Davis and Irving return, and even then, they may have lost too much ground in a crowded Western Conference.
Either way, the Mavericks will next hit the floor on Wednesday night at home against the Phoenix Suns.
