Zach Lowe puts Matt Ishby on the spot for Miles Bridges trade rumors
In addition to The Ringer’s Zach Lowe, Phoenix Suns the owner Matt Ishbia addressed the Charlotte Hornets trade rumors surrounding Miles Bridges without going into details. Love drew on his years of reporting experience in his interview with Ishibia.
By not mentioning Bridges, Lowe made it abundantly clear which player in the Eastern Conference The Suns were reportedly linked before the trade deadline, according to The Zach Love Show.
“I know you can’t name players, but you’ve been linked to a wing forward in the Eastern Conference who went to Michigan State and has some bad stuff on his off-court record,” Lowe asked his question. “Is there any truth to that?” Lou asked. “I know the guy you’re referring to,” Ishbia replied.
“And he’s a great player and a winner on the field. He believes in a lot of the things we’re doing, but right now he doesn’t have any of that. There’s nothing even close to what we’re talking about. And I know there’s a lot of bigger replacements that a lot of teams are talking about now that might keep the others, but the truth is, we love our team.
While Ishbia ruled out the Suns making a move before next week’s deadline, that could change during the offseason.
“If a good opportunity presents itself, whether it’s a position we need,” Ishbia added. “But it has to be aligned with the age we’re building and the toughness and the type of guys we want.
Matt Ishbia has never dismissed the idea that the Suns are not interested in Bridges, saying good things about the Hornets forward without confirming the Phoenix are in the hunt. Bridges, a former Michigan State player, was arrested on a felony charge of domestic violence in June 2022.
