Zion Williamson hits Victor Wembanyama for a throw

When healthy, New Orleans Pelicans star forward Zion Williamson can be pretty unstoppable in court.
Even the San Antonio Spurs unicorn Victor Vembanyama he wasn’t able to do much against the former Duke Blue Devils star at one point Sunday night’s game at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
Early in the second quarter of the contest, Williamson found himself on an isolation play against fellow former NBA No. 1 pick Wembanyama. After receiving a pass from behind the 3-point line, Williamson sized up Vembanyama’s defense before bringing the ball down the floor and hitting the Spurs star for an easy, uncontested dunk.

For a big defender like Vembanjama, he didn’t look like it during that game. It didn’t appear Williamson did anything special before take off. Vembanyama was simply unable to move his feet quickly enough to block Williamson’s path.
Then again, Williamson isn’t an easy customer on defense, and he’s always obligated to make those plays no matter who’s in front of him — even the 7-foot-4 Wembanja.
The Pelicans have lost all three of their first three meetings with San Antonio in the 2025-26 NBA regular season, and this week’s game represents their last chance to get a win against the Spurs. Otherwise, New Orleans will sweep San Antonio in this regular season series.
The 25-year-old Williamson entered the Spurs game with a season average of 22.0 points5.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 58.0 percent from the field.
