Zion Williamson will miss ‘extended time’ with an adductor injury

The The New Orleans Pelicans were among the most disappointing teams in the league this year, they are currently 3-18 heading into Tuesday night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. As is usually the case, Zion Williamson already is missed significant time due to injury, and on Tuesday the team won rough update in terms of its availability going forward.

“New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson will miss extended time with a right adductor injury, sources tell ESPN. He will be re-evaluated in three weeks,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on X, formerly Twitter.

Charania also noted that “Williamson returned on Nov. 19 after missing just over two weeks with a hamstring injury, playing in five of the Pelicans’ last seven games before suffering this adductor strain — which will sideline him for a much longer period of time.”

Injuries have been the main story of Williamson’s career thus far, as the star has missed more games than he has played in his entire NBA tenure. Injuries have ravaged the Pelicans as a whole this year, and Dejounte Murray has yet to play a game this season as he recovers from a torn Achilles he suffered last season.

Still, even with Williamson on the floor this year, the Pelicans have been a disaster, and the team recently made the decision to fire head coach Willie Green. Making matters worse for the Pelicans is the fact that their lottery pick, which looks like it could be extremely valuable, will go to the Atlanta Hawks next summer in a mystery trade orchestrated by New Orleans on draft night when they drafted Derrick Quinn.

Either way, the Pelicans and Timberwolves are scheduled to tip off Tuesday night at 8:00 PM ET from New Orleans.
