Radio host doubles down on Bruins ‘rift’ between Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak
The The Boston Bruins have had a tough time The 2024-25 NHL season, which resulted in the firing of head coach Jim Montgomery thanks to their inconsistent play that fell short of expectations.
But adding on the drama of their season was an explosive report by VEEI’s Rich Keefe that there was a problem between the longtime teammates Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak, via The New York Post.
“The locker room is a disaster, and David Pastrnak is at the center of it,” Keefe said on “Jones and Keefe.” “David Pastrnak has told the team he doesn’t want to be on the line with Brad Marchand, and that may be due to Brad Marchand calling Pastrnak out on some of his plays.”
Brad Marchand immediately hit back at Keefe at the first opportunity, saying there was absolutely no truth to the rumor and that it was “shameful” of Keefe to even suggest it.
“It’s unfortunate,” Marchand said. “I know that journalists have work to do. That job is to report on the team and, usually, you try to be fact-based. But when only blatant lies are presented in the media. There is a problem. The fact that this guy has a platform and is just making things up is embarrassing.”
On Monday’s show, Keef doubled down on his stance from last week and insisted he was telling the truth, via X.
“Ask yourself this question, who in this scenario is more likely to lie? Me or him?” he said. “With all due respect to the Bruins, if I just wanted clicks and just attention, wouldn’t I be making up stories about the Patriots? Or NFL stories? Something along those lines.”

Marchand insisted that he and Pastrnak are very close friends and that there is “zero truth” in Keefe’s report.
“We’ve been incredibly close for a long time, and the only reason we don’t play together is to spread the depth through the lineup,” he said. “There is no truth that he is the problem in the room.” This guy has no credit whatsoever for anything he says.”
