Why the Knicks might cover the spread/win

The Knicks may need a meeting with the 76ers, against whom they have had recent success, to get back on track. New York has won seven of its last ten games against Philadelphia, including last year’s playoff series win. The 76ers are also in poor form, losing four of their last five games. Philly is starting to slide into territory where you could see their stars take some time off if they fall further in the standings, and New York is in prime position to make that even more of a reality in this game.

The 76ers have a long injury report for most games, so that’s not the best reason to bet against them. Philly’s culture is that there is an equal chance that all of their stars will show up and play, or go out with various injuries. however, looking at the injury report and seeing Paul George, Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid doesn’t do much to instill confidence in the 76ers. Pair it with the recent announcement that Jared McCain will miss the rest of the seasonand there isn’t much reason for hope in Philly.

The Knicks are starting to get desperate for a win, as part of the 2025 season has not been kind to them. New York fans began dreaming of a possible run to the NBA Finals when they won their ninth straight game on Christmas Day, but have lost five of seven games since the calendar turned to 2025. Every team goes through lulls during the season, but the Knicks are slowly easing their place in the Eastern Conference standings and now have three teams at four games from them for third place.
