Suns’ Kevin Durant Gets Brutally Honest About How His Success ‘Could Stop Offense’

The Phoenix The Suns’ five-game winning streak was snapped against the Atlanta Hawks, losing 122-117. There were many things that went wrong for the Suns, but one of the things did not include Kevin Durant. The Suns star finished with 31 points, shooting 13-for-20 from the field.

In the third quarter, Durant had the ball, scoring 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting to help the Suns take a nine-point lead, but fell behind by two in the fourth quarter. Many would have thought that the Suns would continue to feed Durant since he was hot, but the opposite happened. In the fourth, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker got the majority of the shots, and it ultimately led to their downfall.

Although Durant was in doubt, he can also understand how he can do it hurt offense.

“When I get going, sometimes it can stop the offense when I start making 4 or 5 shots in a row and people are watching me play,” Durant said after the game, via Suns reporter Duane Rankin.

Durant is one of the most gifted scorers in the league and can get a bucket whenever he feels like it, and when he’s on fire, he should be fed. At one point during the game, the Hawks ended up sending double teams on Durant, forcing him to hand off the ball and find the open man. That should be the moment when the other players in the team start shooting, but it didn’t work out.

At one point during the season, the Suns were three games under .500 and looking for answers on how to get back on track. Even through trade rumors surrounding several players on the team, Kevin Durant says he is the vibes never changed in the locker room.

“The vibes have always been good to me,” Durant said. “From the outside, it’s difficult because we’re losing.” But for the most part, everybody comes in, tries to figure things out, works hard, comes here with energy, enthusiasm to play ball.”

With a team consisting of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, it’s hard to see how they could be so low in the standings, but injuries and a lack of defense have hurt them. Recently, Beal and Jusuf Nurkic were moved to the bench, and in the last few games, Nurkic received a DNP-CD.

The season is nearing the halfway point, and it will be interesting to see what the vibes look like if they can’t string some more wins together.
