Kenny Atkinson went through an unseasonous cleveland cavalirch and wondered if his team would be good.

Turns out they were better than good.

And their coach – was the best NBA this season.

Atkinson is now the coach of the year NBA winner of the year, announced Monday night as this year’s recipient of the Red Auerbach Trophy. Atkinson led Cleveland at 15-0 in the season – one of the three winning streaks of at least 12 games in her club – and led cavalers in the best record in the eastern conference.

“I entered that,” Atkon said. “I keep telling that I came into this. And that’s a little luck, isn’t it?”

JB Bickerstaff was second in voting, after the withdrawal of Detroit from the basement to the playoffs. The name of the wide was the third, after the leadership of Houston’s path to finish five years of drying.

All three of the elites sent the elite this season. But nothing better than Atkonson.

They were all previously coached for the year of the candidate for a year. Bickerstaff now voted in each of the last four seasons, gave the stake in all three of his seasons as the chief coach and Atkinson finished the fifth in the vote for the 2018-19 season, when he was training Brooklyn.

This was the best finish in voting for each of this year’s finalists. And for Atkinson, it was moving: He also won the coach of the year National Basketball Trainer of the Association, the one who was separated from the official NBA award and the other major coaches were voted.

“I almost broke down when I got it,” Atkinson said. “Like, to think (Rick) Carlisle voted for me, it’s (Erik) Speelstra voted for me … It’s like a peak.”

Atkinson won the NBA award. Listed on Monday night on TNT broadcasting, comfortable margin – obtaining 59 out of 100 votes of the first place and appears at 99 out of 100 ballots. Bickerstaff got 31 votes of the first place to complete a second, while the wide received seven first place votes to end up to a third.

Oklahoma City’s Mark Daigneault (two votes of the first place) was the fourth. Tironn Lue from Clippers Los Angeles got the rest of the first place and finished the fifth, and JJ Redick from Los Angeles Lakers was sixth.

Atkinson went to cavalers after she spent the latest three seasons as an assistant with a golden state under COAR Warriors Steve Kerr. Atkinson said he learned a tone from that experience, the lesson he applied to Cleveland and obviously had great success.

“My time with Steve, I call it a final school,” Atkon told TNT broadcast. “I was a typical, hard-nose coach. And I was just about to conduct practices, as he included the entire list in his thought. He really made me a better coach. I’m really grateful to me for experience and do me today.

Atkinson and Bickerstaff both flourished in year 1 of their current stiples. Atkinson led Cleveland to 64-18 records and seeds no. 1 in the east – that after BickerStaff shot after running to another circle in Cleveland last season. Bickerstaff was then hired by Detroit and turned the 14-profit team in such a 44-profit that earned the seeds of the Eastern number.

The wide is LED Houston A 52-30 Mark and Seeds no. 2 in the Western Conference.

The NBA awarded award in the year, as well as several other honors, voted on the global panel of 100 writers and broadcasters covering the league and balot soon after completing the regular season.
