LeBron James Hilarious Hits Back at Anthony Davis’ Poster Downplay of Dunk

When judging a standout performance against the Washington Wizards, it’s always best to avoid excessive praise. Squad 6-36 typically doesn’t make a meaningful measuring stick. But when a 40-year-old posts a triple-double, regardless of the competition, the feat deserves praise. LeBron James made history in Los Angeles Lakers‘ 111-88 win on Tuesday and added another highlight to your overflowing reel.

During the second quarter, the legendary forward caught a great lob by Austin Reaves and dunked past Wizards center Jonas Valanciunas. James started Crypto.com Arena and his teammates, including Bronnie’s son Jamesbut Anthony Davis he wasn’t overly keen on the jam.

The 2020 NBA champion, who turned in a monstrous 29-point, 16-rebound, four-block, five-assist effort in the win, offered his analysis after the game and took the opportunity to give your friend a hard time.

“That wasn’t one of his best {dunks},” Davis told reporters in the Lakers locker room, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin . “I’ve seen better, but he was good.” James listened to the answer from the corner and clapped his hands. “They’ll be your friends,” he joked, as Davis burst into laughter.

The performance was impressive, but Davis is right. Fans won’t be drooling over this particular slam for weeks from now. Reaves’ pass is arguably more impressive and deserves more praise than it is now. However, the dunk begs the point. LeBron James continues to be an unstoppable force at the rim in his 22nd NBA season. He moves with ease and ferocity, a rare combination possessed by any athlete, let alone someone his age.

James scored 21 points (8-of-18 shooting), 13 assists, 10 rebounds, two steals and one block against Washington. It doesn’t matter if it amazes the fans more. They can look back on the many memorable moments he created during his all-time great career. The goal is simply to help the Lakers (23-18) compete for another championship.

Again, the Wizards’ loss doesn’t get them any closer to meeting that standard, but it does move them closer to fifth place in the Western Conference standings. Building confidence is also good, especially ahead of the showdown with the Boston Celtics (30-13). Maybe LeBron James will release a poster more suited to Anthony Davis in that Thursday night matchup.
