Jaylen Brown gets real when Boston gives away the 76ers game

Luck was not on their side Boston Celtics on Wednesday as they lost against Philadelphia 76ers, 117-116at TD Garden.

The Celtics cut the lead to one with 9.1 seconds left in the fourth quarter on a Peyton Pritchard layup. On the ensuing possession, VJ Edgecombe missed two free throws, giving Boston a chance to steal the win. Pritchard, however, missed back-to-back attempts, allowing the 76ers to run away.

The Celtics blew a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter, and Edgecombe and Tirese McKay combined to lead a fierce Philadelphia rally.

Jailen Brown admitted that they still understood things as Boston has gone through a major overhaul in the offseason. He said that they it should be better in paying “attention to detail” and avoiding “key mistakes”.

“It’s tough. (It was) definitely a winnable game for us. Even at the end, we had some opportunities, but they didn’t go our way. It’s a first-day experience. We’ve got a bunch of new guys playing a new style. I thought we played hard today,” Brown said in the postgame conference, according to ClutchPoints.

“I’m looking forward to watching the film, learning and staying on the journey.”

Brown had 25 points on 50% shooting, six rebounds and four assists. Derrick White also had 25 points with three rebounds and four assists.

With Jayson Tatum sidelined with an Achilles injury, the 28-year-old Brown is the undisputed leader of the Celtics. He emphasized that they should not feel too much after just one game.

“We’re going to learn from this, we’re going to learn how to close, we’re going to learn where we can be better, and that’s what it’s all about. I’m not asking my guys to hang anything up,” added the former Finals MVP.

“We just need to get ready for the next one. (We will play) away for the first time, it will be a good test for our group.”

Boston will visit the New York Knicks on Friday.
