Jason Kidd ‘burned’ the film after the terrible loss to Spurs

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks“The season opener didn’t go as planned. Dallas lost to the San Antonio Spurs 125-92 in a forgettable performance on both sides of the ball for the Mavs. Before Friday’s game against the Washington Wizards, Kidd was asked how the team could improve after watching game film. However, head coach joked that the film was “burnt” after a loss.

It seems like Kidd is just calling Wednesday’s contest a bad game and probably doesn’t feel the need to overthink it.

“Putting the ball in the basket,” Kidd replied when asked again if there was anything specifically the team could do to improve the offensive end of the floor.

Victor Vembanyama dominated for the Mavericks en route to 40 points and 15 rebounds Wednesday night. Cooper Flagg’s debut should have been the main talking pointbut Vembanyama stole the show. Flagg managed a double-double — 10 points and 10 rebounds — but it was the 18-year-old’s NBA debut.

Overall, the Mavs struggled to say the least. The team shot just 37.3 percent from the field. Dallas also struggled moving the ball, as the Mavs had 20 assists compared to 16 turnovers. Kidd — a Hall of Fame point guard who is one of the better passers the NBA has ever seen — is understandably ready to continue competing on Wednesday.

The Mavericks will look for better results on Friday night as they host the Wizards at the American Airlines Center at 7:30pm EST.
