Kendrick Perkins makes a bold Victor Wembanyama GOAT prediction

Although he has barely played 100 games at the NBA level, it is clear The San Antonio Spurs have a generational talent in Victor Vembanyama.

A two-way force who can handle the ball, shoot, score and defend at a very high level, Vembanjama is a two-time blocking champion, Rookie of the Year 2024and an All-Star, with another spot on the team’s border guaranteed this season and many more to come.

But how good can Wemby be? Well, in the opinion of Fr Kendrick Perkins on ESPN NBA TodayVembanjama has a chance to be one of the top three players to ever do it, locked in conversation forever with Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

“If you do that, you’re lying to yourself and you’re lying to the people you’re presenting it to. I’m going to tell you that a lot of it is nothing you can do. Look, look at this, everybody. In 15 to 20 years, the GOAT conversation is going to go like this. MJ, Brown and Wimby. Those are the three guys that go by the name. Stay healthy, right, he’s going to be probably the best defensive player we’ve ever seen,” Perkins explained.

“I believe he’s going to win five or six Defensive Player of the Year awards. Can somebody tell me a flaw that he has in his game even now at 21? I’ll wait. You can’t tell me because he doesn’t have one. Offensively, he has the complete package. Jamal Crawford runs it. We’ve seen it in the highlights. It consists of pulling 3s on him.

“He moves great without the basketball for us, he cuts, he’s a live threat to the basket. On top of that, he’s starting to go and capitalize in the low and mid-post areas. You could use him as a screener. There’s nothing he can’t do. This guy has arrived, and he’s got a killer mentality. And he wants to pick him apart. That’s what I said to win. 15, 20 years, it’s going to be MJ, Bron and Wimby for the conversation of the GOAT.”
