Open House in Brooklyn
If it is Networks won only 26 matches last season, the first weeks were interesting. Driven by the ambitions of their new coach, Jordi Fernandes, the team was packed intensity in defense. So much so that Brooklyn was on the eastern podium after eight matches and with four victories on the clock.
Transfers quickly overpowered this enthusiasm. This year we are far from that mentality. In four games, all lost, the Nets conceded 522 points, or 130.5 on average!
“This is mainly due to lack of experience”, justifies coach after loss to Houstonwith 137 points for the Rockets. “We’re going to challenge the players. The coaches are great at that, keeping the focus on every possession. Whether you play for 20 seconds, three minutes or ten minutes, you have to pay attention to the details and the effort has to be there.”
The Nets are only getting what they deserve
Proof that the slump is brutal between the two seasons: The Nets have already allowed their opponents to score more than 130 points three times in one week. In 2024/25? Only seven occurrences. And the opponents shoot with 54% success and 46% from 3 points…
“The Rockets played in transition and nobody was getting back on defense”regret Dai’Ron Sharpe. “We have to communicate better. We can’t have so many absences, without dialogue or because of a bad position.”
Without any improvement in this area, wins will be few and far between this season. “If we give up 140 points, with 50% shooting, it won’t work”announces Jordi Fernandes. “Right now we deserve our results. We can do better. We will continue to work, we will have positive energy and we hold everyone accountable.”
