Willie Green started DeAndre Jordan vs. Nikola Jokic in 2025. Just fire him already!

Wednesday night, New Orleans Pelicans fell to 0-4 in the young NBA season in 2025 with a big loss on the road by Denver Nuggets. The Pelicans entered this game with some question as to whether or not they would play Zion Williamson could play due to injury, and while the number one overall pick really fit the bill, New Orleans didn’t even come close to competing in this one.

Pelicans head coach Willie Green has already made some confusing decisions this season, but he may have taken the cake with Wednesday’s decision to start DeAndre Jordan, who recently signed with his team, for a matchup against his former Denver teammate, Nikola Jokic.

Jordan predictably struggled throughout the evening, finishing with just two points in 12 minutes, and while Jokic didn’t necessarily put on one of his signature Herculean static lines, it was still a borderline foul that could have drawn the New Orleans head coach.

Fans are hoping that this will indeed be the case some good news on Thursday.

“There is a growing feeling that Willie Green will be fired upon his return from this trip. So any decision on that is interesting to judge,” Shamit Dua reported on Bluesky.

A disastrous start for the Pelicans

Generally speaking, a team that’s off to a bad start to the year at least has the option of fully embracing the bottom and trying to compete for the top lottery pick.

New Orleans, however, doesn’t have that luxury as their general manager Joe Dumars, who was hired without a formal process, decided it would be a good idea to trade a 2026 first-round pick (or Milwaukee, whichever is greater) to the Atlanta Hawks to move up five spots to five spots in this year’s draft, with William getting the same draft position.William getting the same draft position. slow start.

In other words, the Pelicans could very well be among the NBA’s worst teams this year and have nothing to show for it.

Not the start Pelicans fans were hoping for.
