For Ja Morant, the Grizzlies have moved on
So nonchalant and a little worried about the game just a week ago, I Morant he woke up last night against the Mavericks. Spacious and altruistic, he recorded a nice double-double with 21 points and 13 assists, and for the first time in his career he even had this double-double in his pocket at halftime! Enough to satisfy him.
“It’s been huge. I think it started yesterday in practice. Everyone came in focused, and then we came to our preparation session with the scouting staff earlier in the day, and we had the same energy, the same state of mind. We’re seeing how that translates on the field…” he pointed out.
According to him, training on Thursday was therefore decisive in forgetting this period of disagreements. “I felt like everyone was more on the same page” he continues. “It was like yesterday was a tacit agreement, like, ‘Hey, tomorrow we have to move on.’ »
Still too much waste
After three straight losses, the Grizzlies actually moved on with this logical success against the very sad Mavericks. Not everything was perfect for Ja Morant, and his second period was pretty mediocre with 5 turnovers and 7 of 20 shooting in the end. But first he keeps the positive.
“I didn’t lose the ball in the first half, and that’s what we lacked in the second half. That allowed them to close the gap.” notes the All-Star leader. “I just have to keep improving in that area, taking care of the ball, because when I do that, you usually get good shots. That’s the most important thing. In the first half, the guys were able to shoot with confidence, the passes were accurate and timed, and everyone was shooting in rhythm.”
