Mark Stein, Tim McMahon reinforce Nico Harrison who shoots
With The Dallas Mavericks have struggled early in the seasonthe conversation turned to the job status of some in the organization, especially the CEO Nico Harrison. As it is securing the Mavericks general manager job in Harrison is in question, the conversation has intensified due to recent coverage.
There’s no denying that Dallas has been disappointing to start the season with a core group of Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, rookie Cooper Flaggand others. Despite the wait for star Kyrie Irving to return, the constant “negativity” surrounding the franchise has been “carrying and disturbing ownership”, according to Mark Stein.
“With the Mavericks already in a significant hole when it comes to simply making the playoffs, league sources tell Stein Line that the growing and virtually non-stop negativity surrounding the franchise is indeed ongoing and a concern for ownership,” Stein wrote.
One would imagine that feeling carried over from last season, with Harrison under the microscope ever since the shocking Luka Doncic trade. ESPN’s Tim MacMahon would even say it’s a “the question of when” Harrison will be fired.
“At this point, I believe it’s a matter of when, not if, Nico Harrison will be fired. And there’s a very, very high likelihood that it will be midseason.”

The Mavericks have a key decision to make regarding Nick Harrison

While it is The Mavericks got off to a relatively disastrous startthere are discussions about whether it would be the right decision to release Harrison in the middle of the season instead of playing him. However, ownership must discuss whether it is important to “win back alienated fans”.
“While Dumont seemingly prefers to give Harrison more time, thinking about whether an offseason trade is the wisest path for the Mavericks to try to move forward after Doncic has become inevitable at the highest levels of the organization,” Stein wrote. “As daunting as that mission will be, it undoubtedly will be even after winning the May lottery and drafting Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick.”
“If Dumont ultimately decides that a midstream change is the best course of action — although it’s by no means clear at this point where the Mavericks would turn in terms of a long-term successor — the move is believed to be made not only for its potential to change the vibe and as a means of trying to win back alienated fans,” Stein continued. “But also on the premise that the front office executive who engineered and instigated the widely criticized Doncic deal can no longer be the one trying to overreach the organization.”
Either way, Dallas is currently 3-7 as the team next faces the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night.
