Justin Edwards’ mouth after clutch shot prompts mom to joke about ‘beating up’

On Tuesday evening, The Philadelphia 76ers have improved to 7-4 in the young 2025-26 NBA season with a narrow home win over the Boston Celtics. While Kelly Oubre Jr. scored a field goal for the 76ers, Philadelphia was in position to win because of the hot play of young wing Justin Edwards, who hit several big 3-pointers during the game.

After the game, Edwards was asked by the media what he yelled after hitting clutch shots from beyond the arc.

He began to respond hilariously in front of his mom, who was at a press conference cut him off.

“I know. But if he says that, he’ll get beaten,” she said.

“She knows,” Edwards confirmed.

Edwards certainly had reason to be enthusiastic Tuesday after producing arguably the biggest moment of his career thus far, helping Philadelphia knock off Boston for the second time in three tries already this season.

All three meetings between the Atlantic Division rivals 76ers and Celtics have been unsuccessful so far, with Philadelphia winning one on the road and one at home.

Interesting 76ers team

As mentioned earlier, the Philadelphia 76ers are now 7-4, tied for third place in the Eastern Conference. While VJ Edgecombe has cooled off considerably over the past few weeks, the 76ers still have an intriguing collection of young talent on the roster, which has made the end of Joel Embiid as an elite player an easier pill to swallow.

Either way, next up for the 76ers is a road game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday night in this weekend’s rematch between the two teams.

That game is expected at 7:30 PM ET.
