Ja Morant is out with a calf injury against the Cavs

As Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Mornt entered with an injury for Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the injury report was cleared and he’s ready to go, but now he left the game with another issue. With Grizzlies dealing with Morant dramathis no doubt doesn’t help the buzz, as he left the game with a sore right calf.

Aside from the injury, the team said he was “won’t come back” to the contest, according to ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel.

“The Grizzlies say I Morant dealing with right calf soreness and will not return for tonight’s game against Cleveland,” Siegel wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

On the road against the Cavaliers, Morant was listed with an ankle problem, but was taken off the injury report, according to Mark Stein.

“Jay Morant has been ruled out of the Grizzlies’ injury report for Saturday’s game at Cleveland,” Stein wrote on X.

There’s no denying that Morant is now swirling around in trade rumors and speculation following reported tensions between the star guard and the franchise. Morant would be suspended for one game, due to “conduct detrimental to the team,” according to Shams Charani of ESPN, after the player’s answers to questions appeared to be directed at the coaching staff.

“The suspension comes as a result of Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo challenging Morant’s leadership and postgame exchange efforts following Friday night’s loss to the Lakers — to which Morant responded in a tone deemed inappropriate, sources said,” Charania wrote on X.

Either way, it remains to be seen what will happen with Morant and the Grizzlies, as any news that connects will have a magnifying glass underneath. Morant is averaging 18.9 points, 8.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game, shooting 35.2 percent from the field.
