Johnston managed to secure Justin Herbert big target on Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He worked through his lower-body ailment and caught five passes for 42 yards – leading LA in receptions that night.
Has Quentin Johnston of the Chargers shed the ‘doom’ tag?

Johnston appeared headed for an early NFL exit after a rough rookie campaign.
That was during the Brandon Staley era in 2023. Still, Johnston struggled to find any footing on offense — settling for a modest 38 receptions for a first-round pick. Even worse, the city of LA watched Puka Nakua go from the fifth round to a 100-catch for the Rams.
Johnston has since flourished under Harbaugh. He improved his reception total to 55 while also racking up 711 yards and eight touchdowns. The now-former TCU star caught 37 passes through 10 games; accompanied by 502 yards and six touchdowns. Johnston even battled through an early season hamstring injury as well as to compile those numbers for 2025.
The towering 6-foot-5 VR looks set to land in Jacksonville. however, The Chargers appear to have Trevor Penning ready to step for a left move.
