The Clippers are keeping their fingers crossed for Derrick Jones Jr.

Derrick Jones JrA winger and valuable since the start of the season, even more so in the absence of Bradley Beal and Kawhi Leonard, Derrick Jones Jr took the dust in the Clippers’ close loss last night in Boston. Two minutes before the break, during a contested ball with Jaylen Brown, he collapsed.

In the fall, the Celtics superstar landed partially on his knee, causing a nasty twist, similar to what Trae Young suffered in late October. The player collapsed, clutching his right knee, and had to be escorted off the pitch by two staff members.

The Clippers should quickly determine the status of his injury and keep their fingers crossed that it is nothing serious. “We won’t know anything until his case is re-examined”, Tyronn Lue gave a short answer.

“It’s like they’re falling one after the other.”

Even if Derrick Jones Jr would avoid the worst (as was the case with Tree Young), it’s another hard blow to spoil the mood a little more after last night’s 9th loss in 13 games. The curse seems to continue for the California franchise, which was hoping for a very different start to the season.

“It’s hard. It’s like they’re falling one after the other.”lamented James Harden. “We’re just trying to keep our heads down, focus on what we can control, and go out there and win. Hopefully the players will start to come back, hopefully sooner rather than later.”

In the middle of a seven-game road trip, the Clippers continue tonight in Philly, and there’s a good chance that Nicholas Batum be called in to help reintegrate the Los Angeles Big Five.
