Devin Booker reminisces about breaking Phoenix’s record in Portland

Almost nine months ago, Devin Booker broke the Phoenix Suns’ all-time franchise record against the Portland Trail Blazers. It was held in Portland and received considerable applause from the opposing crowd.

During Tuesday’s scrimmage, Booker had an opportunity for reflection at that turning point.

“(Blazers fans) gave me a standing ovation. I definitely didn’t have to be a roadie, but there’s usually a lot of Suns fans here,” Booker said, via Duane Rankin of AZCentral .

Booker has remained loyal to the franchise since being drafted in 2015. He has been with them through their highest highs and lowest lows.

From the No. 1 overall pick of the season to the NBA Finals, he has accomplished just about everything possible. But on that February night, he cemented his name as arguably one of the best Phoenix players to ever lace them up.

In its tenth season, Booker took his game to another level. He is averaging career highs in points per game and free throws made and attempted.

All this happens in just 35 minutes of gameplay. Coach Jordan Ott has done a good job of managing his minutes, but early season success has kept Booker from having to play a significant amount of minutes.

Not to mention, the defensive activity and overall leadership was there on display for all to see. Granted, it’s been around for a while, but the Phoenix star has let the story grow all by herself.

The team is 8-6 before they play the Trail Blazers on Tuesday. His 28.4 points per game average could rise with another signature performance, where he made history last season.
