For Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets record is a lie

With 12 wins and 4 losses, the Nuggets have settled in quietly 2nd place in the Western Conferencebehind the untouchable NBA champion Thunder. But the defeat last night, at home, against the Kings allowed to Nikola Jokic (44 points) to remind that the team remained far from its true potential. And consecutive fatigue is no excuse, nor are the absences of Christian Brown and Aaron Gordon.
“I don’t think that 12-4 record reflects reality. I don’t think we’re that good. I think we have to be a lot better if we’re going to accomplish anything important.” he warned. “Yeah, we’re playing better and we’re looking better. But I think we have to be consistent, every night, every possession.”
Do not exit the system
Clearly tired, and always behind for breakthroughs, the Nuggets had heavy legs. Jokić knows it and does not hide it. But even if it means a loss, the three-time MVP wants it to be within David Adelman’s system.
“Even if you make a mistake, you have to make the ‘right’ mistake, within our system, of what we want to do. Don’t make a mistake just because you’re improvising.” he continues. “So yeah, we’ve got to be a lot better. I think we’ve got to be … not scared, but we’ve got to have a sense of urgency: rebounding, being in the right spot, having confidence in our shots, just … shooting. So this 12-4 record isn’t reality, but we can get better. We’ve got to be better if we’re going to get anything done.”
