Josh Hart calls New York’s “bad job” in ugly loss to Magic

The New York Knicks may be considered one of the most talented teams in the Eastern Conference, but even the powerhouses can be stifled on a nightly basis.
Following The Knicks lost 133-121 to the Orlando Magic on saturday night veteran Josh Hart offered rough estimate team performance.
“It’s just bad business for us,” Hart told Stefan Bondi of the New York Post. “Obviously there are guys that we could have played off of a little bit and we didn’t. We let guys drive through the paint and do all those things unassisted, unassisted, so we’ve got to watch film and get better.”
Despite the game being close through the first three quarters, Orlando’s 20-4 run in the fourth quarter allowed the Magic to pull away. Overall, New York surrendered 64 points and allowed the opposition to shoot 55 percent from the field.
“(Defense) on the ball, we have to be better. But there was also no secondary help, no second effort. That’s the biggest thing,” Mikal Bridges said. “There will be misses. There will be things that will happen, miscommunications. But we weren’t connected. We weren’t on our feet and ready to play. I think we were a little behind and reacted late, which I think is unacceptable.”
The loss dropped the Knicks to 1-5 on the road and 9-6 on the season. Despite the group’s defensive struggles, head coach Mike Brown remains confident that they can make the necessary adjustments.
“I’m confident we can be where we need to be defensively,” Brown told SNI. “We played well in some instances, and we didn’t play well, and that’s what you go through, especially this part of the year. So I think we can be a really good defensive team. But again, no matter who we put out, we’ve got to have a feel and an understanding of what we’re trying to do on that side of the floor to get things done.”
