Fans are relieved after the ugly Iron Bowl against Auburn

The crimson tide receded from a stunning loss at home to Oklahoma destroying Eastern Illinois 56-0 last Saturday. But all eyes were on it Alabama football in Week 14 as the team traveled to Auburn for the Iron Bowl.

Alabama rode even harder the most important iron vessel this season as a win would send the Tide to the SEC title game. But the Tigers didn’t want to be quiet. After Alabama took a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter, Auburn made things interesting.

The Tigers came back, scoring 13 unanswered points. Auburn then tied the game at 20-20 on Jeremy Cobb’s two-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Alabama answered with a clutch 15-play, 75-yard drive, capped by Isaiah Horton’s third reception of the game. Cullen DeBoer missed a field goal, opting for it on 4th-and-2 from the 6-yard line. And the head coach’s bold gamble paid off as Horton’s catch gave the Tide the lead.

“Blame the refs all you want, but to win games like this, you have to make winning plays when it matters. One team did that tonight, the other didn’t. Thanks Auburn for reminding me how much I hate you.”

“Just like Oklahoma, we did everything we could to make that game, and Auburn just didn’t want it.”

“I shouldn’t bother eating after winning”
