Anthony Davis jokes about his fingers after dominating the Nuggets

On Monday evening, The Dallas Mavericks picked themselves up surprising road win against the Denver Nuggets to move their record to 7-15 in the 2025-26 NBA season. The Mavericks were hosted by Anthony Daviswho scored 34 points with 13 rebounds in this one and also got a career-best performance from Ryan Nembhard, who scored 28.
After the game, Davis talked about how he and the team were doing stay composed despite playing at Denver’s notorious altitude.
“I was tired, for sure, but it’s a mental thing. Coming back, there aren’t many days of practice. I’m just trying to get over the fatigue of the game,” Davis said, per Mike Curtis of the Dallas Morning News on X, formerly Twitter.
Davis also talked about a brief finger injury that bothered him at one point in the competition.
“Fingers are good… They’re in tact,” he said.
Overall, things have started to pick up slightly for the Mavericks since Davis returned from injury last week, but they’re still eight games under .500 in an extremely tough Western Conference playoff race, so it would take a lot to get this team back into real contention.
For now, though, Dallas can be happy to see the continued development of younger players like Nembhardt, and of course, No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, who had a big game against the Los Angeles Clippers over the weekend and continued that momentum with 24 points against Denver, including some impressive plays in transition.
At this point, it remains unclear if the Mavericks are happy with this version of the roster and hope for additional reinforcements when Kyrie Irving returns, or if they may want to trade one or more of their veterans and embrace a rebuild around Flagg.
They will next take the floor on Wednesday for a home game against the Miami Heat.
