Grayson Allen has pleaded not guilty after being ejected for taking a cheap shot at Chet Holmgren

Wednesday night, The Phoenix Suns are eliminated from the NBA Cup tournament with a 49-point loss at hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road. Playing without Devin Booker, the Suns knew some of their unsung players would have to step up, but unfortunately, none of them did, as the team finished with just 89 points in the game.

One controversial moment happened in this game when the fullback kicked Grayson Allen found himself ejected after a hard collision with the Thunder big man Chet Holmgren.

After the game, Allen spoke about the incident.

“I felt like I made a good foul call within the physicality of the game and what was going on on both ends, especially with the screen shots, some of the blocking shots that were going on,” Allen told The Associated Press via ESPN .

Thunder wing Jalen Williams also talked about how the incident motivated his team.

“It just added more juice to the game,” Williams said. “The fans were a little bit more into it, so naturally, you play a little bit harder. So that was a good thing, to be honest. We started playing the way we usually play. A little bit more amped up.”

Allegations of foul play have followed Allen throughout his career since his time with the Duke Blue Devils, although it has been several years since he was at the center of controversy.

A foul on Holmgren would not appear to be anywhere near the level of some of his previous incidents, so the consequences of this incident are unlikely to be too serious.

Either way, the Suns now have a matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers, defeated on the other side of the Western Conference NBA Cup standings, on Sunday night at home at 8:00 PM ET.
