Rick Carlisle criticizes the refs for going against Indiana all year

Rick Carlisle he didn’t bite his tongue after another tough loss. Following Indiana Pacers‘ late collapse against the Philadelphia 76ers, Carlisle questioned the officiating and suggested his team had been fighting an uphill battle all season. Frustration poured out during his postgame commentswhere he openly danced around the thin line of the NBA.
“There were a few calls I thought we could get,” Carlisle said. “Can I say that without getting fined $40,000? … I’m going to fight for our guys. Our guys have been fighting it all year … fight hard, critical game, every play counts.”
Indiana let a winnable game slip away late when Joel Embiid took over. Embiid finished with 39 points, getting to the line multiple times and scoring through contact as the Sixers closed out strong. Philadelphia outplayed Indiana in crunch time, but the Pacers felt the margins were thin, and their whistle didn’t go off.
For Carlisle, this wasn’t just one game. The Pacers have played a steady diet of close contests this season, often relying on pace, ball movement and transition offense to compensate for defensive limitations. When games slow down late, every call becomes magnified. Carlisle made it clear that he believes those moments have strayed far too often from Indiana.
Loss too He held Carlisle to 999 career winsa milestone that seemed within reach before the Pacers unraveled late. Coaches don’t usually make these complaints without purpose. Sometimes the message isn’t for the league office. That’s for the locker room.
Whether or not the narrative of the trial changes, Carlyle drew the line.
