Steve Kerr’s confession after Stephen Curry’s lost eruption

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is really good at this three-point shot.
Curry exploded for 48 pointsbuilt on 12-of-19 shooting from beyond the arc. The Warriors, however, still lost to the Portland Trail Blazers, 136-131, at the Moda Center. They fell to 13-14, including 6-10 on the road.
Curry put the Warriors ahead, 129-127, with just 1:26 left in the fourth quarter after his 12th 3-pointer. But the Trail Blazers refused to quit, and Jeremy Grant made the game-tying free throws.
Warrior trainer Steve Kerr lamented their shortcomings, especially in defense, and admitted that they need better down the stretch.
“It was a great game, it was a wild game. We just don’t close games. I think we’re 5-9 now in close games,” Kerr said in a video posted by Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle.
“We have to find a way to tie the game. That’s my job. I’m not doing my job well this year.”
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr pointed to Golden State not closing well — 5-9 in the clutch — and the effect of Portland’s dribble penetration.

The 60-year-old Kerr admitted that they didn’t get back on defense fast enough after the misses, crediting the Trail Blazers’ aggressiveness and offense.
Six other players scored in double figures for the Warriors to back up Curry, but still couldn’t get the job done. They are now 4-6 in their last 10 games.
37 years old Curry played in his second game at guard after missing five straight outings with a left quadriceps contusion.
He recorded his 28th game with at least 10 three-pointers, extending his league record.
It’s back to the drawing board for Kerr and the Warriors before they take on the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.
