Gabe Vincent gets timeline update on lower back strain

The The Los Angeles Lakers were one of the success stories heading into the 2025-26 NBA season, is currently 18-7 heading into Thursday night’s game against the Utah Jazz on the road. Making matters even more impressive for the Lakers is that they have been winning games despite various injury issues, including primarily to LeBron James.
Reserve point guard Gabe Vincent has also recently been sidelined with lower back tightness, and on Thursday the team provided the latest update his status moving forward.
“Lakers guard Gabe Vincent has been diagnosed with lower back tightness and will be re-evaluated in about a week,” ClutchPoint’s NBA insider Brett Siegel reported on X, formerly Twitter.
Vincent has been somewhat underwhelming for the Lakers since signing two offseasons ago after a stint with the Miami Heat, but he continues to provide a reliable ballhandler and three-point shooter off the bench who can defend the perimeter relatively well and makes smart decisions with the ball.
The Lakers are also hoping for good news on the Austin Reaves front, as the point guard has also recently been sidelined with an injury for his surprising All-Star campaign so far this year.
Overall, the Lakers have been impressive so far this season, but have shown some alarming trends in recent weeks, most notably their inability to stay in front of opposing players on the perimeter, which was a major problem in their NBA Cup loss to the San Antonio Spurs. It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see Rob Pelinka and company looking to add a player to help fix that weakness before the trade deadline.
Either way, the Jazz and Lakers are scheduled to tip things off Thursday at 9:00 PM ET from Salt Lake City.
