NBA: Jimmy Butler suspended by Miami Heat after trade request
The Miami Heat have suspended forward Jimmy Butler for seven games for “conduct detrimental to the team” and will listen to his offers.
The 35-year-old, a six-time NBA All-Star, said he “probably” won’t be happy playing for the Heat again.
“We have suspended Jimmy Butler due to multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team throughout the season, and in particular over the last few weeks,” the Heat said in a statement.
“By his actions and statements, he showed that he no longer wants to be part of this team.”
“Jimmy Butler and his agent have indicated they want to be traded, so we will listen to offers.”
Last week, Heat team president Pat Riley said he had no intention of making Butler available for a trade.
Butler has made 377 appearances for the Heat since joining in 2019.
His last game was a 128-115 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, when he had nine points, four assists and two rebounds.
Butler averaged 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game this season.
He previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Chicago Bulls.
