Cam Johnson is getting a worrying official knee injury timeline

Denver Nuggets forward Cameron Johnson suffered a regarding the appearance of the right knee injury in the team’s recent 131-130 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

The good news is that there was no structural damage to his right knee, and he was diagnosed with a bone bruise. The bad news is that Johnson will now miss more weeks, as he will reassessed in four to six weeksaccording to Shams Charania of ESPN.

Johnson now joins Aaron Gordon, who was out since Nov. 21 with a hamstring injuryand Christian Brown, who suffered a sprained left ankle on November 12 on the Nuggets side.

The Nuggets, who play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Christmas Day, will be without all three starters. The pressure is now on three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray to carry the Nuggets into 2026.

In Johnson’s absence, Peyton Watson will continue to play a key role in the Nuggets’ starting lineup. With veterans Bruce Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr. also set to be key secondary talents, head coach David Adelman is banking on production on both offense and defense.

Interestingly, Johnson, who was diagnosed with a bone bruise, was listed on the Nuggets’ injury report as “treatment for a right knee hyperextension injury.”

While a four-to-six-week timeline before he’s re-evaluated isn’t the best news Nuggets fans could have received on Christmas Day, they can be relieved that Johnson isn’t out for the season, especially given how severe the injury looked early on.

Johnson will return before the end of the regular season and assume his key role on the wing for Adelman and the title-contending Nuggets.
