Isaiah Thomas hints at the next chapter in his basketball career


While he is a former NBA guard Isaiah Thomas has tried to re-enter the league for the past few years, is now hinting at playing overseas as the next chapter in his basketball career. Thomas hoped to play another season in the league, which led to brief stints in the G League and 10-day contracts after the 2021-22 season, but never materialized into a standard NBA contract.

Thomas revealed that he wants to play basketball, although a return to the NBA or Europe, which Thomas recently hinted at.

“Thinking about slipping to the EuroLeague…. Just wanna HOOP,” Thomas posted on his X, formerly Twitter.

Thomas’ final NBA appearance was six games with the Phoenix Suns in the 2023-24 season. Averaging 28.9 points, 5.9 assists and 0.9 steals per game, Thomas made two All-Star appearances with the Boston Celtics. He led a young team to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2017. A hip injury that season, which led to surgery, derailed a promising career for the late second-round pick in 2011.

The Celtics traded Thomas to the Cleveland Cavaliers before the following season. He was then traded a second time to the Los Angeles Lakers. Thomas played for the Denver Nuggets and Washington Wizards from 2018 to 2020.

The Celtics recently honored Isaiah Thomas to mark his 52 game game against the Miami Heat on December 30, 2016. Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown gave Thomas a shout out after the win. What turned out to be IT’s final season with the Celtics was Brown’s rookie campaign.

After the Celtics’ 129-116 win against the Heat, Brown joked about Thomas filling his car with popcorn as a rookie joke during his exit interview.

Thomas followed up a 52-point regular season performance with a career-high 53 points in Game 2 of a best-of-7 semifinal series against the Wizards.
