Steve Kerr reveals why Jonathan Cumminga needs to stay fit for his next opportunity on the pitch
Doc Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Cumminga has been the subject of trade rumorshead coach Steve Kerr tells him to stay ready when his name is called. Kerr admits that Kuminga’s situation is not ideal, but does not preclude changehe said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
“It’s tough because he’s not a short-minute player. I’ve played with a bunch of guys for eight, ten minutes at a time,” Kerr said. “JK is a guy that needs his rhythm. He’s not Guy (Santos), who’s going to come in or Pat (Spencer), just fly around, play with high energy for four minutes and come out. He needs some rhythm. He always has to stay ready.
“There’s a way here, but it’s not there right now. But things change quickly in the NBA.”
Although Kerr admits that Kuminga is in a difficult position, he did not talk about an immediate extension of the veteran’s minutes.
