Trae Young makes a cryptic announcement amid relentless trade rumors and criticism
Trae Young recently returned to Atlanta Hawks lineup after an extended layoff caused by a knee injury, but the Hawks have lost all five games in which he has played, and he is now he returned for repair with a quad injury. That doesn’t appear to be a coincidence at all, as the Hawks recently snapped a seven-game losing streak with Young in the lineup, further fanning the flames of trade rumors involving the former All-Star point guard’s name.
In fact, there have been plenty of rumors stating that Young’s time with the Hawks is coming to an end, especially when he could enter free agency at the end of the season by declining his player option for the 2026-27 campaign. But the Hawks star does not give confidence to those rumors, if his cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter) is anything to go by.
“Consider the source before considering the -❄ statement,” Yang wrote.
It’s not entirely clear which statement Young is referring to exactly, but given how relevant trade rumors are if his name were included, one would think there was at least some sense of credibility, however slight, in those grumblings. And with just over a month until the trade deadline, a solution to this should come sooner rather than later.
Are the Hawks a better team without Tree Young?

Young, at his peak, is a double-double machine who sets up his teammates for success. But Jaylen Johnson has developed into a stat sheet powerhouse and incredible playmaking for a combo forward made Young’s skill somewhat redundant. It’s also no coincidence that Young couldn’t get into the swing of things much the last time he played for the Hawks.
If Young is no longer the focus of the offense, he doesn’t do nearly enough, especially defensively, for the Hawks to prioritize him. But with his trade value at an all-time low, is it actually worth giving up on him?
