LaNorris Sellers gets a new weapon

The South Carolina Gamecocks’ roster rebuild continues as the team is looking for answers after a disappointing 4-8 campaignand quarterback LaNorris Sellers just got another option to work with.

On Saturday, On3 reported a new addition from an unexpected angle of the college football landscape. The move represents a clear game projection for head coach Shane Beamer and his staff as they look to turn around the offense ahead of the 2026 season.

“Holy Cross transfer VR Charlie Mulally has signed with South Carolina, Pete Nakos reports,” On3 posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Mulally arrives from Holy Cross, where he spent three seasons in the Patriot League and gradually earned a role after starting his career primarily on special teams.

During his time with the Crusaders, Mulally appeared in 18 total games and finished with 26 receptions for 333 yards and two touchdowns. His most productive stretch came during the 2025 season, when he played in five games and caught 17 passes for 189 yards and a score before his year was cut short.

Last season marked his first true breakout at wide receiver, as he recorded eight catches for 136 yards and a touchdown after recording just one reception as a freshman in 2023.

The jump from the FCS Patriot League to the SEC is significant, but South Carolina is banking on Mullally’s developmental trajectory and athleticism. A 6-foot-1, 195-pound receiver from East Fishkill, N.Y., Mullally also brings a strong high school resume. He set program records at the Peddie School in Highstown, New Jersey, for single-season receiving yards and touchdowns, showing production that caught the eye of evaluators early on.

Mulally retained his redshirt through the 2024 season, leaving him with at least two years of eligibility remaining. He becomes South Carolina’s third wide receiver he added via the transfer portal this offseasonjoined Jayden Gibson of the Oklahoma Sooners and Nitro Tuggle of the Purdue Boilermakers.

With veterans like Nick Harbor returning and younger receivers like Mazeo Bennett Jr., Jaden Sellers and Donovan Murph still developing, Mulally is expected to compete for snaps, especially in the slot, rather than being given a guaranteed role.

This plugin is suitable for South Carolina broader strategy, which is to surround LaNorris Sellers with as many viable options as possible and let the competition shape the depth chart.
