Buddy Hield reveals Jimmy Butler’s conversations after season-ending injury

On the trail Golden State Warriors Jimmy Butler’s season-ending injury to torn right ACL, Buddy Hield he found that his teammates were in good spirits. Despite the disappointment that comes with seeing his season come to an end, Butler hasn’t changed who he is as the upbeat teammate he’s been since joining the Warriors last season. It’s been almost a year since the Miami Heat traded Jimmy to Golden State on February 5th.

In the Warriors’ 135-122 win against his former team, Butler was helped off the floor with 7:41 left in the third quarter. Hield offered an update on Butler after Monday’s 145-127 loss to the Toronto Raptors, per 95.7 The Game.

“He’s Jimmy. He’s happy. Of course, the injury, he wants to play. Everybody wants to play,” Hield said. “I’m texting/calling him. He’s in good spirits. For a person to be in good spirits after an injury like that just shows their character.”

Buddy Hield scored 25 points off the bench to lead six Warriors players into double figures against the Raptors. Jonathan Kuminga added 20 points.

While the Warriors were looking for a new home for Jonathan Cummings, following his trade request, the devastating news of Jimmy Butler’s season-ending injury changes things? Buter’s injury could affect Cummings’ future as the Warriors weigh their options weeks before the NBA trade deadline, according to ESPN’s Sham Charani.

“The Warriors are back on the rollercoaster, that’s their saga with Jonathan Cummings, and are they going to go all-in again with Cummings to see if he can play in Jimmy Butler’s absence? The focus will be squarely on him. He requested a trade last week, the first day he was eligible to be traded on Jan. 15. My sources told me that the relationship between him and Kerve has improved,” Charania said.

“Do you go back to Jonathan and come in now, given the state of the relationship, or here in the near future, do you try to find a deal on the market that can help the Warriors win and compete without Jimmy Butler? That’s a gaping hole for this team. So the two teams that have interest in Jonathan Cummings, Dallas and the Dallas Mavericks, if Dallas and the DeMar Mavericks, DeRozan and Sacra fit what would the Warriors do? could it take without Jimmy Butler?”

While moving Kuminga remains a priority for the Warriors before the trade deadline, Butler’s injury could affect his destination between now and Feb. 5.
