Quinn Meinerz One of the First Athletes to Call ‘Abolish ICE’

Denver Broncos All-Pro running back Quinn Meinertz is using his NFL playoff platform to become one of the first athletes to speak out against ICE. The 27-year-old appeared to be responding to deadly shooting in Minnesota on Saturday ahead of the Broncos’ AFC Championship Game with the New England Patriots.
In a now-deleted Instagram story, Meinerz revealed his opposition to ICE by reposting a graphic from far-left clothing brand CHNGE. The graphic drew attention to the killing of Minnesota resident Alex Pretty on Saturday and ended with the statement “END ICE”.
Meinerz posted something discovered and shared by ESPN’s Mina Kimes on the social media platform Blueski before it was deleted.
I haven’t seen many athletes comment on the news in Minneapolis outside of Haliburton, but here’s two-time All/Pro Broncos running back Quinn Miners, taking the field in an hour:

Pretti lived in Minnesota, but is originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin. Meinertz was born and raised in Hartford, Wisconsin, and played collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Meinerz’s post came hours after the Broncos’ upcoming game against the Patriots.
In doing so, Meinertz became one of the first athletes to speak out against ICE since the third shooting in Minnesota in the past month. Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese HalliburtonWNBA star Breana Stewart, Utah Jazz forward Kyle Anderson and others specifically expressed their displeasure with the situation.
Meinertz is not an outspoken player, but he is never afraid to speak his mind on controversial topics. He was seen wearing T-shirts that read “End Gun Violence” and “Quality People Are Not Afraid of Equality” as he walked to games.
Meinertz is two weeks removed from his second consecutive first-team All-Pro honor. The $80 million running back was also named to his first Pro Bowl at the end of the regular season.
