Insider comes up with a 4-team trade proposal to help the Bulls make the playoffs

The The Chicago Bulls were has been playing better in recent weeks, currently sitting at .500 despite a recent 129-118 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Chicago recently returned Josh Giddy from a hamstring injury, and they’re looking to break out of the rollercoaster that has defined them for the last few years.

Recently, Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus reported that “Chicago is looking to improve its postseason chances this season with the addition of young, athletic players to complement its core duo of Josh Giddy and Matas Bouzelis.”

Since that is the case, he then suggested wildly a four-team trade idea that would help Chicago in this department.

In Pincus’ mock trade, the Bulls would receive Benedict Maturin from the Indiana Pacers, as well as Yves Mission and Kevon Looney from the New Orleans Pelicans. The Indiana Pacers would bring in Daniel Gafford from the Dallas Mavericks and Jevon Carter from Chicago. The Pelicans would acquire Jarras Walker from the Pacers and Dante Exum from the Mavericks, along with various valuable trade exceptions and draft compensation. Meanwhile, the Mavericks would land Dalen Terry, draft compensation and trade exceptions.

At least from the Bulls’ perspective, it’s easy to see why this complicated trade could be tempting. Maturin is an intriguing young player who recently played a big role in the Pacers’ shocking run to the 2025 NBA Finals and is flourishing in an increasingly large role this year. At 23, he fits the Bulls’ timeline nicely as he brings them a versatile player who can defend and knock down threes.

The Bulls are currently 23-23 and the ninth seed in the East, but the youth on their roster, as well as the emergence of players like Giddy and Buzzelis, has their fans feeling a little more optimistic than they probably have in years past, when the team was loaded with aging veterans.

Adding Maturin to the fray would only serve to heighten the sense of future opportunity.
