Uchenna Nwosu reveals a brutally simple game plan against Drake May

The Seattle Seahawks celebrated their second Super Bowl title with a 29-13 victory against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LKS at Levy Stadium on Sunday night. After the game, linebacker Uchenna Nwosu revealed the team’s straightforward but effective strategy orchestrated by head coach Mike McDonald and defensive coordinator Clint Kubiak: pressure Mayo and disrupt the Patriots offense at every opportunity.

The streak started in the third quarter when defensive end Derrick Hall forced a fumble, and Nwosu and Julian Love took full advantage of back-to-back turnovers in the fourth.

May finished 27-of-43 passing for 295 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, also rushing five times for 37 yards. Patriots receivers Mack Hollins and Rhamondre Stevenson contributed 78 and 40 receiving yards, respectively, including a touchdown. But the Seahawks’ stifling defense allowed just 51 yards in the first half, holding New England scoreless through three quarters and forcing five straight punts.

Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold completed 19 of 38 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown, avoiding all turnovers during the postseason. That was a far cry from their regular season, when the Seahawks turned the ball over 28 times, including 14 Darnold picks. Running back Kenneth Walker III, the Super Bowl MVP, led the offense, rushing 27 times for 135 yards, with AJ Barner catching four passes for 54 yards and the only offensive touchdown. Cooper Kupp added six receptions for 61 yards, while Jackson Smith-Njigba had just four catches for 27 yards while dealing with injuries.

Nwosu’s pick-six extended the lead to 28-7 with 4:27 left in the fourth quarter, and kicker Jason Myers added the extra point to make it 29-13.
