Rick Pitino sends congratulations to Dennis Jenkins

The The Detroit Pistons were the best team in the Eastern Conference this season, and every player in the rotation has played a part in their success. One of those players is Daniss Jenkins, who has played several roles for the Pistons this season, both starting and also coming off the bench.

Recently, the The Pistons signed Jenkins to a two-year contract after being on a two-way deal. Many were excited for Jenkins, including his college coach, Rick PitinoWHO they shouted at him on social networks.

“Congratulations to my boy.” (Dennis Jenkins). No one is more deserving!” Jenkins wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Pitino can take some credit for spotting the talent Jenkins possessed, having had him as a point guard at Iona and St. John’s. Jenkins has been huge for St. John’s on and off the court, and that shows the kind of person he is and why Pitino liked him so much.

Jenkins has played a great role for the Pistons this season, as he is currently averaging 8.2 points and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 39% from the three-point line. Outside of his shooting, he was a reliable perimeter defender, which led him to stay on the court as well.

The Pistons didn’t make many moves at the trade deadline, and the biggest thing they did was get another scorer in Kevin Huerter. He will be a good addition to the team, and it is safe to say that they have the depth in their team to compete for the rest of the season, make the playoffs.

If the Pistons can stay healthy, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them make the playoffs, and Jenkins would be a big part of the reason why.
