Dave Roberts on Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s next goal
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered a World Series for ages. Yamamoto broke all the legends associated with himnevertheless. But it didn’t stop Dave Roberts from sharing what the pitcher’s next goal is.
Roberts has his guys preparing for the MLB Spring Training as consecutive winners of VS. He admitted over Athletic’s Fabian Ardaia that Yamamoto “wants to be great”. But that’s not the only aspiration Roberts has learned about his star right-hander.
“He wants to win the Cy Young,” Roberts said. “He hasn’t done it yet, so that’s the carrot.”
Yamamoto refuses to gloat about his achievements. Still, Roberts notes the high standard the pitcher has for himself.
“I think he prides himself on being consistent and being really good,” Roberts said.

Yamamoto added, “Right now it’s actually better than the regular offseason.
He will soon have new high-profile teammates in Kyle Tucker and familiar face of the Dodgers, Edwin Diaz. LA has a chance to become MLB’s first three-game winning streak since the New York Yankees (1998-2000). Plus give the City of Angels their first three-peat winner since the Lakers in the early 2000s.
