Dario Saric is leaving the NBA without too many regrets
After nine seasons spent navigating between seven NBA franchises, Dario Saric now he is turning to Europe. At the age of 31, the captain of his Croatian national team confirmed on the sidelines of Croatia’s gathering for the 2027 World Cup that he is clearly aiming for the Euroleague.
Without going into details, the former player of Philadelphia, Phoenix and Golden State explained that his return could happen quickly. “I will not go into details. I certainly expect to play in the Euroleague. It remains to be seen whether it will be until the end of the season or the next one., he confided.
Asked about a possible return Cibona Zagrebhis former club, calmed down Dario Šarić. For him, the story ended in 2014, after the ABA league title. He’s not completely ruling out this long-term option, especially with the idea of returning to his hometown one day, but it’s absolutely not his priority right now.
“It could have been better, but it could have been worse”
Because his priority is to find the right base in the Euroleague, “logical step” after the NBA in his eyes, in order to integrate a system that suits him in order to reduce the adaptation time as much as possible. “It’s a different sneaker, but I think this style suits me”he thinks, already turned to “new challenges”.
At the first assessment of his NBA career, the Croatian harbors no bitterness. He recognizes that certain opportunities haven’t always gone his way, especially from his rookie season, when an injury to Ben Simmons opened a window for him that he couldn’t fully transform long-term.
Looking back, Dario Šarić lucidly sums up his NBA career: “It could have been better, but it could have been worse. In any case, I’m satisfied.” Calm, almost detached speech, in any case without regret.
