Bears’ Ben Johnson’s one-word reaction to finding out Aaron Rodgers isn’t playing



The Chicago Bears continue to climb the ladder and streak together. The Bears were successful in their Week 12 home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, outscoring their AFC Central opponent 31-28. It was the fourth consecutive victory of the first-ranked Bears.

Before the game, one of the biggest stories surrounding the matchup with the Steelers was whether the long-time nemesis of the Bears Aaron Rodgers it would be below center. Just before warmups, it was rumored that Rodgers would not be in the lineup for the Steelers and was inactive. Rodgers broke his wrist in the Steelers’ previous game against the Bengals.

While fans, media and some Bear players they were obsessed with Rodgers’ status as the Bears’ head coach Ben Johnson said that the question did not concern him at all. He he was asked what was his reaction when he found out that Rogers was inactive. “Nothing,” was the coach’s short reply.

Mason Rudolph stepped in at quarterback for the Steelers and completed 24 of 31 passes for 171 yards with 1 TD and an interception. He was sacked twice by tight end Montez Sweat.

The Bears have shown an ability to take control of games in the fourth quarter this season. In the win over the Steelers, the Bears quarterback Caleb Williams threw 3 touchdown passes, including a touchdown pass in the third quarter and another that extended the lead to 10 points in the final quarter.

Williams improved dramatically in his second year

Improvement in Bears are dramatic this season. The win over the Steelers raised their record to 8-3. A year ago, the Bears finished in last place in the NFC North. Williams has struggled quite a bit in game-changing situations, but that’s where he’s succeeded this season.

Williams completed 19 of 35 passes for 239 yards with 3 scores and no interceptions. He had 4 carries for 21 yards and was sacked just once.

Wide receiver DJ Moore had a big game with 5 receptions for 64 yards and caught 2 TD passes. Rookie tight end Colston Loveland caught 4-49 and Williams’ second pass for a TD.
