Brad Marchand says Leafs fans ran Mitch Marner out of town

In the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs Florida Panthers he eliminated Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round. In the end it was the last game for Mitch Marner with Leaves, as Marner was sent to the Vegas Golden Knights. now, Brad Marchand returns to visit Marner leaving Toronto.
“It’s a shame the fans drove Marner out of town. I think it’s a huge impact on their group. He’s a point per game, it hurts,” Marchand he told the media before the Maple Leafs’ 4-1 win over the Panthers on Tuesday, per Chris Johnston of the Athletics.
The Leafs and Marner are off to a strong start in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. In the first-round series with the Ottawa Senators, Marner has been strong. He stepped into the net once with seven assists. The Maple Leafs won the series 4-2. He would then start a series with the strong Panthers. In the first three games, he scored one goal and added three assists. Toronto had a 2-1 lead in the series, with their only loss coming on the road in overtime.
The team would go on to lose the series in seven games while dropping both games five and seven at home, both by scores of 6-1. Marner was booed off the ice, and after the game Marchand took note of the fans.
“I think if you look at the heat this team takes, it’s actually really unfortunate. They’ve been working to build something really big here for a while, and this year they’ve been a different brand of hockey, and they’ve been crucified, and I don’t think that’s justified just because they haven’t been able to do it. We’re a really good and sometimes deep team.” said the striker after the 7th gameaccording to Jeremy Tingley of The Leafs Nation.
Marner was terrific in his first season with the Golden Knights. He lit the lamp nine times while dishing out a team-high 33 assists. That puts him second on the team with 42 points. Vegas is also 18-11-12 this seasonputting them in first place in the Pacific Division.
Meanwhile, no one on the Maple Leafs has 42 points, with William Nylander leading the team with 41 points and a team-leading 27 assists. Further, the Leafs are just 20-15-7, which is fifth in the Atlantic Division. Currently, the team is two points out of a playoff spot without a run out of the city of Marner. They return to the ice Thursday night on the road against the Philadelphia Flyers, looking to make up ground in the playoff race.
