Brilliant in Oklahoma City, Brandon Miller is back to his best
« It’s a great trip, you can’t ask for anything better », can be enthusiastic Brandon Miller about the “journey” completed by his hornets. After the failure in Milwaukee, there was a victory in Chicago, and above all a great success a night spent on the floor of the current champion, Thunder.
Demonstration (97-124) at Pike Center where Charlotte was outscored by as many as 30 points – giving Oklahoma City its biggest shutout of the season – and the Hornets trailed just 2 minutes into the game, and were never really worried.
While Kon Knuepel finished with 23 points, Miles Bridges with 17, Brandon Miller was the big man of the night with his 28 points (8/16 shooting including 7/10 from distance), 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 blocks.
« I think Brandon is in a great moment right now. I would start with his level in terms of general physical fitness. It’s nice to be able to give him significant time in these last matches. I find that his ability to fight fatigue is clearly improving. Because we need it in many decisive moments », observes Charles Lee.
High level for eight matches
Shot in the shoulder earlier in the seasonhis player has struggled since returning to the field. Only, the last few weeks haven’t been the same. Over his last eight appearances (four wins, four losses for his team), he is averaging 23.5 points on 45% shooting, including 41% from 3-point range, in 33 minutes.
« With all the losses and injuries we’ve had lately, it’s reassuring to know that I can play him a full quarter if needed, and he’s still capable of being competitive. Defensively, I loved his ability to defend against key opposing creators. And offensively, we know he can score, but first of all, I’ve noticed a big improvement in his decision-making », his coach notes again.
The winger assures that he and his teammates wanted to show a “two-way player” approach in this match against the Thunder. An approach that paid off against the league’s best team, which failed to slow down the offensive pace set by Brandon Miller and his gang.
« My teammates put me in the best conditions to give me the best shots possible. They trust me enough to take such shots. I take them, sometimes I mark them, sometimes I miss them. I’m not perfect, but my teammates will continue to trust me », term-t-il.
