Corey Kispert sat out against the 76ers due to Trae Young trade interest

The Washington Wizards will be without Corey Kispert in theirs Showdown on Wednesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philly due to “injury management,” according to ClutchPoint’s Brett Siegel.

Kispert recently returned to action after a five-game absence with a hamstring injury, but missed another contest during the Wizards’ meeting with the Orlando Magic on Tuesday at Capital One Arena in Washington.

With Kispert ruled out for the 76ers game, Washington will have to find a way to survive with a depleted lineup. Aside from the former Gonzaga Bulldog star, c The Wizards will be without veteran CJ McCollum and Chris Middleton. Forward Kishawn George is also not expected to suit up. Meanwhile, forward Cam Whitmore remains sidelined.

The decision to bench Kispert for the second straight game predictably prompted some fans to link the move to rumors of a potential trade for Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young.

For what it’s worth, Kispert signed a four-year, $54 million contract extension with the Wizards in 2024, a deal that comes with a $13.025 million club option for the 2028-29 NBA campaign. On the season, the 26-year-old forward is averaging 9.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, shooting 49.6 percent from the field.

The Wizards enter the 76er game in pretty good shape, having won three of their last four games, including A 120-112 win against the Magic.

However, they are still wallowing near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings at 10-12. Only the 6-31 Indiana Pacers have a worse record than Washington in the East.
