Curt Cignetti’s “movie” statement on Indiana’s turnaround after crushing Alabama

Even though Indiana had won 13 straight and defeated Ohio State in the Big Ten title games, there were still plenty of nonbelievers as Indiana prepared to play Alabama in the quarterfinal round of the College Football Playoff at the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
after all, Indiana is famous as a basketball school in a state where that sport is respected. Alabama may be the most dominant program in college football history, and the school has had legendary coaches Bear Bryant and Nick Saban.
Indiana football team was known for his disappointments until Curt Cignetti was hired prior to the 2024 season. Cignetti and his Hoosiers may have dispelled any doubters when Indiana routed the Crimson Tide 38-3. Indiana dominated on both sides of the ball and won the Heisman Trophy Fernando Mendoza led the way by completing 14 of 16 passes for 192 yards with 3 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Indiana running back Kellon Black also had a standout effort as he ran the ball 15 times for 99 yards and averaged an impressive 6.6 yards per carry. He also scored a touchdown.
Cignetti has a Hollywood proposal as he accepts the Rose Bowl trophy
After the game, the Hoosiers (14-0) received honors for defeating Alabama and advancing to the CFP semifinal round. After receiving the trophy that goes to the winner of the Rose Bowl, ESPN’s Rece Davis asked him if he ever imagined his team having a season like this
Cignetti paused for a moment and came out with next thought. “It would be a hell of a movie.”
A movie about this year’s Indiana team could rank among other Indiana sports classics like “Hoosiers” and “Rudy.” However, to ensure that the movie should actually be made, the Hoosiers must win 2 more games in order to win their first NCAA National College Football Championship.
