Dai’Ron Sharpe is nearing his return from injury amid a 1-10 start
Brooklyn Nets center Dai’Ron Sharpe is nearing his return from injury amid the team’s 1-10 start. After missing Tuesday’s 119-109 loss to the Toronto Raptors, the Nets promoted Sharpe to a probable Friday matchup with the Orlando Magic.
Sharp left Sunday’s loss to the New York Knicks with pain in the left tendon. However, the Nets later clarified that he was dealing with a gluteal contusion. They listed the backup center as questionable for the Raptors matchup before turning it off.
Despite calling up rookie big man Danny Wolf from the G League, the Nets opted to play with Clowney’s extended minutes at backup center against Toronto. Clowney turned in another solid offensive performance, recording 18 points, eight rebounds, three assists and four turnovers. However, he and Clacton struggled to protect the paint for the third straight game.

Despite the move to the larger starting line of Michael Porter Jr., Clowney and Claxton, Brooklyn dominated about interior in recent games. The Nets have been outscored 206-104 in their last three games. They rank dead last in defensive rebounding percentage by a wide margin this season.
Sharpe’s return will add depth to Brooklyn’s tough frontcourt. The utility center averaged 6.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists on 64.9 percent shooting in 15.9 minutes per game in 10 appearances this season. He is coming off his first season in 2024-25, after which he signed a two-year, $12 million contract.
The Nets have lost three straight games by double digits after their only win of the season over the Indiana Pacers. Brooklyn (1-10) is one of three teams with one win this season, along with the Pacers (1-10) and Washington Wizards (1-11).
The Magic are 5-2 in their last seven games after a 1-4 start. However, they will be without Paolo Banchero against the Nets after the forward lost to the Knicks on Wednesday with a groin strain.
