Dan Quinn sends a strong message after the Eagles’ late 2-point conversion

After watching The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders enter during a special edition of Saturday Night Football, the resulting brawl three ejectionsjournalists had one simple question for Dan Quinn: What the hell happened?

Breaking up the two-point conversion attempt and ensuing chaos, Quinn noted that he knew this would be a hard-fought game, but was surprised by the decision anyway.

“Yeah, I thought it was going to be a tough game going all the way. We talked about last year’s game, we thought the biggest difference was the difference in the loss,” Quinn told reporters.

“And if we could play better in that space, we’d give ourselves a chance to go. So, hey, it’s their choice, man. I want to look at the tape and see what happened before our objections or holding or any of that. Our guys are absolutely going to stick up for themselves and for their teammates. And that’s how I’ll feel better.”

Asked if he made the Eagles’ decision to go up two from 17 in the second half, Quinn didn’t hold back, noting how excited he is to play the team in two weeks for that very reason.

“Yeah, I can only say from my side what I would do, but hey, man, they want to go down so bad, and it’s fine, we’ll play them again in two weeks,” Quinn stated.

Now, to the Eagles’ credit, their kicker, Jake Elliott, missed three shots in the first halfand that likely left Nick Sirianni worried about the veteran kicker’s ability to nail the extra point. Still, for a coach like Quinn, who leads a team with just four wins, any outside motivation is good motivation to keep his guys united around a common goal during the final two weeks of the season. Regardless of the outcomes in Week 17, Week 18 will be a classic NFC East slugfest.
